Shoe Psyche

Wow, guys! We've finally reached week five of Shoe Psyche sponsored by Shoebuy. That means today is your last chance to get 10% off your next purchase at Shoebuy in addition to having your Shoe Psyche read with shoes from Shoebuy's 18,000+ options. And the final Shoe Psyche/Shoebuy winner is: Gail!

Gail says:

1) My favorite pair of shoes is... 5 INCH RED STILETOES BY MICHEAL ANTONIO

2) The pair of shoes I wish I had are... L.A.M.B. Women's Bellgrave Boot

3) In one sentence, I would describe myself as... a future fashion designer, pink loving, butterfly kiss giving, shoe diva with much style.

First of all, I have to say that I think the Style Bard and Gail need to go shoe shopping together--those boots are amazing! Unlike some, Gail's claim to style isn't merely an echo of what's on the racks--she shows clear boldness and sense of self in her fashion choices. Surely, she will make for an exceptionally talented designer who will never be content as someone else's pattern maker; Gail has a voice that must be heard! And she isn't going to let you forget it, as she stomps her way ahead in life in a pair of red stiletto heels. Gail is no-nosense when it comes to knowing what she wants and who she is; the woman is a walking, breathing statement piece in skyscraper heels. She likes heights, she likes risks, she likes splurging on items she knows better than to spend on (and then sneaking into her closet late at night just to visit and enjoy them). But despite her showmanship and bravado, Gail is not lacking in heart and softness, and she would just as soon cuddle up with the ones she loves and watch a sappy movie before tucking them gently into bed with butterfly kisses. Gail's Shoe Psyche looks like:

'Balm' by BCBGirls

For a girl who needs all eyes on her, this shoe takes the cake. I know Gail will enjoy spending the summer stomping her way through the crowds in shoes that demand attention and respect. Best of all, they're from the New Arrival section of Shoebuy, which means these beaded beauties are hot off the press, and Gail will be at the peak of style when she wears these, outshining any other shoe on the street. And Gail won't even blink at the 4" heel or the added platform. Go big or go home, right Gail?

'Edith' by BCBGirls

Another eye-popping pair are these tall and delicious heels that take a classic shape and make it new again with this bold patent finish. Think it's a red heel? Think again. This is actually a pink shoe in a shade close to red, which brings together the femininity of the former color with the strong, bold sex appeal of the latter. It's just as complex as Gail herself! Gail's certain to go ga-ga for these--and the good news is, they're already on sale for 30% off, so with her additional 10% off these are practically a must-have (and hey, you don't have to feel like a naughty girl for splurging)(but go ahead and feel just a wee bit naughty; it's just more fun that way).

'Fem Fatale' by Luichiny

Of course, for a girl who's not afraid of fashion, who actually works in the fashion industry, there's a demand not only to stand out and be 'different' and 'creative' but also to demonstrate that she's able to follow the trends. What better way to fulfill both of those quotas than with these gorgeous and daring animal-print platform sandal? These babies knock out the competition with a 5 1/8" heel, which is anything but meek. These shoes are the essence of Gail, and they are sure to express her unique style to the world while appeasing even the most catty of fashion critics.

Congratulations, Gail! I will be in contact with you shortly about how to claim your prize--a 10% off gift code which can be redeemed at Shoebuy.

Shoe Psyche

It's week four of Shoe Psyche! One week to go before the final Shoe Psyche sponsored by Shoebuy. Don't worry; we'll keep doing Shoe Psyche afterward--just keep sending your submissions and I'll keep matching your personality to three pairs of shoes.

Last week, Mitanari won 10% off her next pair of shoes from Shoebuy. One more chance remains to have your name drawn to be a runner-up winner--so keep your fingers crossed. This week's Shoe Psyche/Shoebuy winner is: Quasia!

Quasia says:

1) My favorite pair of shoes is... my black stilettos, I cannot live without those shoes.

2) The pair of shoes I wish I had are... 3 shades of pink in a round front heel.

3) In one sentence, I would describe myself as... a fashion freak.

Quasia is a girl's girl, which means that she's not only naturally in tune with her own feminine side, she's also a great best friend to have, because she puts you in the mood for sleepover parties and makeovers and shopping sprees and wedding planning. You know she'll listen to you squeal over the fact that the guy from the party called you back, and she'll help you pick out the perfect first date outfit to wear when you see him again (not too casual, she'll say, but you also don't want to look like you're trying). She'll probably lend you her cute earrings--the ones she knows you covet--graciously, and without waiting for you to ask. But unlike shopaholic fashionista friends, Quasia is the one who brings you down to earth and gives you the good, solid advice you need. When you're picking out the perfect third date dress, she'll tell you to remember that no matter how this relationship turns out, you're still going to have this outfit, so pick something practical and timeless, something you can wear again no matter how the styles change. She always knows the perfect thing to say--and wear. Quasia's Shoe Psyche looks like:

'Sherry' by Life Stride

The Style Bard has been saying it for years. If you're looking for a 'good investment' shoe that will go with any outfit, any year, regardless of the flux and wan of trends, then you need a gorgeous Black round-toe slingback. Timeless and elegant, these are the ultimate chameleon of footwear, and they'll take you from freshman year to your first grandchild, if you treat them right. And they're perfectly gorgeous, luxurious, and feminine, which is why Quasia will want to snatch them up and make good use of them for years to come. These also come in a Wild Rice tan color, which is another great investment option. And for only $38.95 before her 10% off, Quasia might just grab both and not have to buy another shoe for a long, long time (but what fun would that be, right?).

'Gala' by Stuart Weitzman

For a gal who likes quality, long-lasting shoes that will go with everything and remain practical--yet still bring out her frilly side--these designer slingback shoes in Pink are ideal. Quasia can wear these out under jeans to add perk and poise to casualwear, or wear them to a formal Spring wedding. With such subtle coloring, these shoes will act like a neutral and complement almost any outfit. How could Quasia love them more? Well, they're now on sale for 63% off their original price, making them exceptionally affordable--even before Quasia's additional 10% off.

But wait, readers are thinking, Quasia may have indicated that she's practical because her favorite shoes are a pair that will last forever and go with everything, but she also wants shoes with three shades of Pink, and she calls herself a fashion freak. She's a complex gal who needs more than classic shapes and subtle color palettes! That's right, readers, I agree. That's why I think the quintessential shoe for Quasia is:

'Body Talk' by Poetic Licence

Powerful, Pink, and anything but ordinary, these high-heeled beauties utterly capture the fantasy of a girl's girl. Ruffles, frills, height and a sexy name? Sounds like heaven--but not too angelic. These shoes will put you on the prowl. After all, while Quasia is always there to help her girlfriends hook up with a hottie or get through a man crisis, she needs a little TLC of her own. And the best way to get that extra ounce of attention is to add some va-va-voom to your walk with a pair of pumps like these. Breathtaking, no? And so very Quasia.

Congratulations, Quasia! I will be in contact with you shortly about how to claim your prize--a 10% off gift code which can be redeemed at Shoebuy (where you can find all of the shoes featured in Shoe Psyche through April 15th).

Shoe Psyche

We've come to week three of Shoe Psyche! Last week, Elizabeth won 10% off her next pair of shoes from Shoebuy. After this week, only two more chances remain to have your name drawn to be a runner-up winner--so keep your fingers crossed. This week's Shoe Psyche/Shoebuy winner is: Mitanari!

Mitanari says:

1) My favorite pair of shoes is... A pair of Baker's black highheeled oxfords with a wood heel.

2) The pair of shoes I wish I had are... These would be even better with a closed toe.

3) In one sentence, I would describe myself as... Eyeliner lover.

Mitanari has superb style; she is always wearing the latest fashions, dressed to the nines, and browsing the runways and high-end catalogs for her next fashion inspiration. But Mitanari is particular, not vain--she loves the funky little touches a designer adds to a shoe, dress or necklace that gives it (and by extension, her) extra oomph. Even when forced to shop on a budget, Mitanari looks for these special elements in her shopping steals; because she knows that's what makes a good thing great. Mitanari truly cares about appearances--when she goes to the grocery store, you can be sure to find her wearing her hair done to perfection with a full face of carefully practiced makeup. Her friends envy her ability to wake up 15 minutes early every morning just to add finishing touches to her look, and the boys have always swiveled around for a second look at this fashion-lover. She might come off as a little high-maintenance, but she's always worth the extra effort--because Mitanari values and appreciates that little extra touch in every facet of her life, and she gives as good as she gets. Mitanari's Shoe Psyche looks like:

'Convy' by BCBGirls

These striking sandals are everything Mitanari desires in a shoe. She'll adore the sexy, strappy look as well as the subtle, supple snakeskin print. They give their wearer a sense of presence and fashion know-how; onlookers will never suspect she buys off the rack. In fact, many will mistakenly believe that these cost Mitanari far more than they actually did--which she, of course, loves (accuse her of spending too much on shoes and she won't lie, but she'll never deny). Even the most savvy shoppers are watching their wallets in this economy, so Mitanari will be happy to know that these delicious heels are now 40% off their original price! With her extra 10% off, these shoes are going to be hard not to buy.

'Milly' by Fergie Maxim

Much like the dark, rich lining that brings out her eyes, Mitanari will be drawn to these lush, deep purple pumps. Rather than her piercing gaze, these heels highlight Mitanari's overall 'look' and tie together any ensemble, whether she's cruising the hottest nightclub or heading to Sephora to pick up some new toys and beauty tools. An apostle for detail, Mitanari will be quick to point out to inquisitors that her shoes are actually aubergine, not black. And she'll be the first to notice the asymmetrical line of the toe, and, after a moment or two of deliberation, decide not only that she loves this uncanny, foot-slendering detail, but that it is the element that makes this shoe worth adding to her collection.

'Chloise' by Jessica Simpson

Sometimes a shoe is just right--and when it's right, it's right. While even the Style Bard cannot make heads or tails of its reasoning, she knows that these rough-and-tumble (yet feminine) high-heeled clogs are going to touch the right spots for Mitanari. A little edgy, a little eclectic, and the kind of shoe that only a very thoughtful fashionista can pull off--well, these shoes are exactly what Mitanari craves. The rivet details, the well-crafted stitching, and the slice of platform beneath the toe...they all come together in an off-the-wall masterpiece that only Mitanari can make the most of...and she will enjoy every moment of the challenge.

Congratulations, Mitanari! I will be in contact with you shortly about how to claim your prize--a 10% off gift code which can be redeemed at Shoebuy (where you can find all of the shoes featured in Shoe Psyche throughout the next three weeks).

Shoe Pysche

It's time for week two of Shoe Psyche! Last week, Anna won the grand prize of $50.00 toward a new pair of shoes from Shoebuy. This week kicks off the first of four consecutive Wednesdays in which Shoe Psyche participants will win an exclusive 10% off discount code, good toward their next purchase at Shoebuy. This week's Shoe Psyche/Shoebuy winner is: Elizabeth!

Elizabeth says:

1) My favorite pair of shoes is... Creepers and Mary Janes. I couldn't like without my chucks.

2) The pair of shoes I wish I had are... I would love a pair of Black Creepers with red stitching. There would have to be at least a couple red stars on the sides as well.

3) In one sentence, I would describe myself as... I love music and concerts are my biggest form of entertainment. I am the mother of a three year old boy, and he is my world. I see things in my son that help me understand where he fits in in this crazy world, and we dress him accordingly! He is a total mommas boy who loves to show who he is through his appearance- just like momma! We will never stick to one style or another, because that wouldn't fit our personality!

Well, that last one is certainly more than one sentence! I guess that means Elizabeth is a woman who doesn't always play by the rules. The Style Bard can tell that Elizabeth is a life-loving, on-the-go mother who requires a comfortable shoe in which to run around and enjoy life on the heels of her son. She would never let an uptight pump stand between her and a day at the playground! But those practical shoes can't be boring old Keds or prissy ballet flats; no, they need a little flash of personality to let loose Elizabeth's inner rock star. The ideal shoes to capture Elizabeth's Shoe Psyche are:

'Ruby' by Crocs

For a busy mother of a precocious and energetic young boy, your shoes have to be both comfortable and durable. Well it would take Octumom's slew of toddlers to make a dent in these long-lasting rubber Crocs. The 'Ruby' style emulates the Mary Jane style Elizabeth is fond of, but unlike the traditional slip-on Crocs, gives her the enclosed back and additional strap to make her shoes sturdy for hours of running, playing, and enjoying life with her son. Plus, they'll add a fun, bright pop of red to any outfit. They're Elizabeth's very own ruby slippers.

'Bari' by Softwalk

These stylish suede boots bring together all of the elements of Elizabeth's lifestyle and shoe personality. Softwalk brand is known for its comfort and support, which means these beautiful flat boots can do more than look pretty: they'll keep you going for long hours on your feet (or, with a young child in the house, I should say on your toes). What I like best for Elizabeth is the fact that they have a very subtle pattern of imprinted flowers swirling across the knee-high suede, which show depth and richness, perfect for the girl who wears her personality on her feet (much like a heart of your sleeve). These shoes can be dressed up or down, so Elizabeth is good to go whether it's a typical day dropping the kid off at school or the elusive all-grown-up date night while he's at home with the babysitter. They're perfect for cold weather months, but Elizabeth is a rule-defyer, so I challenge her to wear these with a fun summer dress. Why compromise comfort for style? These luscious suede boots bring together the best of both worlds.

'Shiam' by JUMP

But best of all, I think Elizabeth will love these funky, edgy platforms by JUMP (I know I most certainly do!). They combine the fashionable elements of a patent dress shoe with Elizabeth's rock star vibe, and, with a 3" thick wedge heel, they represent the look and feel of her favorite shoes, the Creeper. If a girl can get the personality and comfort of her favorite go-to casual shoes in a dress shoe, she's bound to be in shoe heaven. I think these will put Elizabeth over the moon--especially at 10% off!

Congratulations, Elizabeth! I will be in contact with you shortly about how to claim your prize--a 10% off gift code which can be redeemed at Shoebuy (where you can find all of the shoes featured in Shoe Psyche throughout the next four weeks).

Shoe Psyche

Welcome to the premiere of Shoe Psyche, the latest feature on Style Bard Shoes. To launch this new feature, Style Bard partnered with the wonderful team at Shoebuy to offer readers a chance to win $50.00 toward a new pair of shoes. Four runners-up will win an exclusive 10% off discount code, good toward their next purchase at Shoebuy, no holds barred. The runners-up will have their Shoe Psyche read every consecutive Wednesday following today, and find their special code in their inbox on the day their Shoe Psyche is featured. But I know what you're all waiting for, so here she is, our Shoe Psyche/Shoebuy grand prize winner: Anna!

Anna says:

1) My favorite pair of shoes is... my pink satin 4.5 inch high sandals with a big bow from Bakers Shoes--they make me feel like Carrie from Sex and the City.

2) The pair of shoes I wish I had are... Christian Louboutin Hyper Prive Peep-Toe Pumps in Black, a very desirable yet unattainable due to price tag classic.

3) In one sentence, I would describe myself as... a hopeless romantic who prefers beautiful shoes over comfortable shoes anytime!

The Style Bard can tell that Anna is a girl who walks tall but isn't afraid of her femininity. Anna swoons for designer shoes, but keeps a level head; she doesn't need a reminder that the electric bill must be paid before she hits the mall. She's not afraid to attract attention in a crowd, and much like it-girl Carrie Bradshaw, shows a creative streak both in her fashion choices and her love life. The ideal shoes to capture Anna's Shoe Psyche are:

Paris Hilton Glitzy (Women's) - Gold Metallic
'Glitzy' by Paris Hilton

A metallic peep-toe named 'Glitzy' is just what Anna needs. She'll sparkle and shine as she shows off her latest pedicure and newest ensemble, catching attention from all the boys and all the paparazzi, much like Ms. Hilton herself.

Via Spiga Quinn (Women's) - Black Satin
'Quinn' by Via Spiga

A girl who covets a staggering black Louboutin pump is sure to love these luxe Via Spiga black satin heels with (much to Carrie's approval, I'm sure) a fleurchon of black rosettes for a kick of character. With a 1/2" hidden platform and a 4" heel they're no wilting violets, and neither is the girl who wears them. They're classics with a twist, just like Anna herself.

And last but not least, I just know Anna has been eyeing these ever since she saw them in the post about the Shoebuy contest:

Jessica Simpson Donora (Women's) - Purple Rose Patent
'Donora' by Jessica Simpson

With a 4.5 inch heel and an ultra-fem bow, they've got the height and chutzpah of her favorite pair. Unlike Ms. Bradshaw, I think Anna cares about her piggy bank as much as she cares about her shoes, so she'll want to save her Bakers for the right occasions and keep them looking new as long as possible. In the meantime, Anna can take these babies out for a spin when weather conditions aren't up to par. She'll get the same look, but won't have to worry about rain or soot on satin.

Congratulations, Anna! I will be in contact with you shortly about how to claim your prize--a $50.00 gift certificate to Shoebuy (where you can find all of the shoes featured in Shoe Psyche throughout the next five weeks).
