Last Day to Take 15% Off Moxie Shoes

Moxsie is a website which aggregates little-known, small or indie boutiques and helps their owners and creators get wider recognition at one central location. Today's the last day you can use code UPDATE on your total order from all across the site for an additional 15% off. For men's Fall shoes, Style Bard faves are these casual, laid-back, low-rise 'Dylan Black' sneakers by 100 Styles and Running. This week only, when you buy one pair of back-to-school shoes for kids, you'll receive 25% off a second pair! It's not a half-bad BOGO from Reebok, especially if you've got a couple of little ones needing new shoes for the school year. When I was in grade school, I seem to recall all of the little boys fawning over the color Green. Maybe it had something to do with Ninja Turtles? Either way, in case boys are still into Green, I picked out these 'Bet on Laces' pre-school/grade school boys' shoes for Style Bard Faves. They're now only $39.99 and qualify you for 25% off another pair of kids' shoes!

Burberry Prorsum Shoes Spring/Summer 2008

As a follow-up to today's earlier post, I decided to look more into those shoes from the Burberry Prorsum S/S 2008 ready-to-wear runway. Rather than ankle boots or shoes with netting over them, as I had suspected, it turns out that they're in fact sandals over socks. How horrifying!

The sole respectable pair of shoes on the runway were these, which are in fact ankle boots, but they're pretty ugly as far as I'm concerned:

But take a peek at the rest:

Are you not thoroughly mortified? Please ladies, I beg of you, never ever ever bring this style into fashion. Even Katie Holmes couldn't pull it off. I don't care if you're wearing $80 socks and $600 sandals, you're still just about as fashionable as this guy:

(Photo from this dreadful, inflamatory website dedicated to sandals over socks. Don't even click it; spare yourself.)

I mean, what's next? This? I shudder at the thought.

Ask Style Bard

From the mailbox:

Hi there,
I have a silver ruffle dress from Burberry Prorsum and I do not know what shoes to wear with it – the dress is strapless, knee length and featured in their runway show spring summer 2008.
Any ideas you have would be much appreciated – I was thinking of some Swarovski sandals from Gina.

Thanks and regards,
Chloe

Chloe,

First and foremost may I say on behalf of SBS and its readers: JEALOUS! Regardless of the fact that I don't know which of the following you mean:

I'm personally hoping it's the latter. As you can see in the photos, this dress was originally styled with an ankle boot (although they may be platform pumps with some kind of netting or stocking over them). However, the dresses were also layered with cover-ups and styled with belts and sunglasses, which makes them casual (the line is Ready-to-Wear); from your first choice of shoes, I imagine you're planning to dress the look up for evening wear. In that case, I wholeheartedly agree with your choice of Gina shoes. They're my absolute favorites for shiny, sparkly nighttime looks. However, rather than a sandal I might try something more substantial, so that the shoe doesn't compete with the dress--perhaps something more like the 'Amani' bootie:

This year has been all about pairing edgy, masculine pieces with girly, chic, sleek items. Or try one of these, the 'Jenna' or the 'Mila':

The subtle sparkle will highlight the dress without overpowering it. Of course if you wanted to do an exact homage, you can also try 'Jamelia':

Either way, enjoy your lovely frock! Please feel free to email and let us know how you ended up wearing it--we'd especially enjoy pics!

Here's one for readers across the pond (though don't fret, U.S. shoppers, they ship here, too). Shoe-Shop.com has a great sale section full of designer looks and brand names--up to 70% off. 20% Off + Free Shipping on Steve Madden Shoes

Love Steve Madden shoes? I do, too. Currently, Style Bard faves are these 'KOBRAA' flats in Gold--because I had to send these back--but I actually love all 5 colors. And while the Steve Madden website always has great deals in its sale department, I'm here to tell you it gets even better for Steve Madden shoe fans: 20% better, in fact. When you use code MADDEN20, you'll see 20% deducted from your cart's total. That's it, that's all you've gotta do--no minimum purchase sums apply. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! That same code simultaneously qualifies you for Free Shipping. Yup. So if you're ogling a pair of Steve Madden shoes, then shop now while this great offer lasts--and shop a half-size up, as Madden shoes might run a little small. If you, too, favor the 'KOBRAA' flats, you really should check them out--they're already on sale before your additional 20% discount.

Get $25 Cash Back on Nike Shoes

All right, I'll be the first to admit that this deal is a wee bit convuluted, but I'll try to parse it out for y'all, even though I hate sneakers. That's what a good friend/blogger I am. Okay! So here's the deal: if you shop Nike sneakers and spend over $125, and choose to have your shoes shipped via Next-Day Air, and pay for the order with your PayPal account, then you'll receive $25 cash back. So if you were, for example, already coveting these $176 Nike Air Vapor Men's Golf Shoes (and why wouldn't you be; these are pretty hot for golf shoes, aren't they??) then you should use your PayPal account and the fast shipping to, essentially, knock the price down. Of course, if you weren't already on the market for expensive new sneakers, if you don't have and don't want a PayPal account, or if you like waiting for packages to arrive weeks later via snail mail, then this deal isn't for you.

Looking only at the lowest priced shoes, I found a bunch of great options, including these Gotta Flurt 'Grovvy-1' (someone can't spell, but I'll let it go just once) for only $19.95. I love the bright contrast of the paint plashes against white, as well as how comfortable and practical the shoe seems. 25% Off Steve Madden Shoes

Steve Madden is offering 25% off four styles of bestselling shoes for men and women. For men, these savings can be applied to 'Krave' and 'Novo' (pictured) with the code CJMENSDEAL25. Women can take 25% off the styles entitled 'Hadaline' and 'Hmotif' (both sandals) with code CJWOMENSDEAL25. Personally, I think men are getting the better deal, since they can save on shoes which can be worn as the seasons change. But hey, when it comes to shoes, men are typically the ones who get the raw deal. Sure, their shoes are by and large more comfortable than ours, but they never get to wear foxy heels! For those who think the Style Bard needs to post men's shoe deals more often, this one's for you.

They're available in four colors, and they're only $10 (down from $16.50) for a limited time. Back-to-School BOGO from Payless

BOGO! Just in time for back-to-school shoe shopping, Payless is launching its famous buy one, get one 50% off sale. It's pretty self-explanatory, but when you buy any pair of shoes (or accessories) from Payless, you'll get the second of equal or lesser value for 50% off its original price. If you're shopping for teens' back-to-school styles, I recommend a great pair of practical flats, like the 'Brice' style by American Eagle (available in four color variations). Shipping to your house is always $5.95, but it's free to have your order shipped to your local Payless location. Enjoy starting the school year in style!

Ask Style Bard

Hi,

I fell in love with a shoe when I was only 12 years old. That was a very long time ago, and have never seen this shoe or one like it until Donna Karan came out with my updated shoe a couple of years ago. I couldn't believe it. Only one BIG catch. It was almost $600, way too much for my pocketbook. It has since been reduced to under $300, still pricey for me, but I may have no choice. Again, a problem. I am a size 6 and I can't find it smaller than an 8. This is a one-of-a-kind shoe. It is named black patent xenon oxide 1/4 strap mary jane. #874870. Can you help me?

Thank you
B. Murray

Ms. Murray,

Unfortunately I've been unable to find this exact shoe for you in your size--and believe me, I tried! Nothing touches my heart the same way as a story of lost or unattainable love...especially when it's a shoe. We've all been there. Here are a few options you might also like (though I know it's not the same):

Danby Wine Patent
Danby Wine Patent by Vaneli for Jildor

Tania by Claudia Ciuti

Saphire by Calvin Klein

The first ones are my personal faves. Readers--if you come upon this shoe in a size 6 (or if you fine more similar shoes), would you be so kind as to leave a comment?

Appreciatively,
~SB
